so, i went to the local glass store to price acrylic. i asked for prices on 3/8 and 1/2. the old man who works at the store says, "listen kid, (i'm 20) they don't even make that sh1t. even if they did, you don't need it. there is nothing that requires 1/2 acrylic. i have 1/8."
i replied with, "actually, i'm making aquariums out of it, so i need that extra thickness. i'm sure they make it, so could you check on it for me?"
he then told me that a sheet of 3/8 was going to run $450.
i kind of laughed and told him that i could get it for $130. he then replied, "well kid, you go ahead and do it then. let me tell ya this though, i've been working with this sh1t for 30 years, and there is NO way you can make an aquarium out of it. you'd be dumb to try it. have you heard of tempered glass?"
what a moron. if he's a professional, i'll gladly maintain my amateur status.
