I had a sad night last night. I moved yesterday into a new apt. accross town and placed my two fish (a puffer and lawnmower bleenie) in a small 5 gal tank for transport while I took down my 75G. Once I got to the new place, my first priority was to get my tank up and running. Once completed (about two hours) I went back to my old apt to get my two fish and was shocked to see my beloved puffer at the bottom of the tank in a non-responsive state. My girlfriend and I grabbed the tank and took off for the new apt. and the newly set up tank. The trip was long...seemed that every second was a min and of course every stop light was red. Once there we tried our best to revive the puffer...but it was too late. He was gone. It was a sad night in my new apt. I lost one of the best fish I have ever had. I will miss him greatly.
So, My reason for writing this note is not to make you sad or angry at my stupid mistake. My reason is to let every aquarist seasoned or beginner to take every step possible to take extreem care of your fish. If you have to move to a new location ask if your LFS will board your fish while you move. Mine wouldn't. Also, make sure you watch your water quality in small tanks (this is for beginners) for the water parameters will go south very quick. Also to all you guys that have puffers...give them an extra treat tonight for me in memory of their lost brother (O-Mack).
