View Full Version : Finished the Shrimp Tank!

I finished my 10 gallon shrimp tank. They will be the yellow neocardina arriving in a couple of weeks from msjinkzd. This tank has a Hydro sponge filter (for up to a 40 gallon - can't have too much filtration) and "basic" low light. The cave is a decoration that was painted a darker color with Krylon Fusion, to which I added some live java fern (both the basic and lacy variety - thank you msjinkzd for some beautiful plants). There is hornwort, pennywort, and a sprig of wisteria being held in place with a feeder ring in the back. I like to do this with floating plants since it allows water to circulate all around the plant. That little "hut" is a clay reptile hideout, with some java moss next to it. I'm hoping the moss eventually adheres to and covers the hut. I have Vals behind the cave, and the substrate is Eco-Complete. Thanks for looking! 81638

I like the huge cave! really interesting looking! did you find this in a store or did you make it (looks like clay or something)?

It was a decoration we found at Petsmart. We changed the color and added the live plants. We also opened up the back for another entrance and extra water flow into the cave.

I couldn't pass up that little hut when I found it! I hope the shrimp will be comfortable in this tank. :)

interesting decor
it's already a good sign for the shrimp that you're maturing the tank and not just plopping them into a cycled desert :)
