Hey everyone,
I have run in to a bit of a problem. I had 5 tiger barbs in a 10 gallon, and as they got a bit bigger, I moved them to a 29 gallon moving all gravel, decorations, and water to help with the cycling. The next day, they all had ich. I treated them for 14 days, losing 1 in the process. The other 4 seemed healthy. I introduced some green tigers a week later and 3 of my original tiger barbs got dropsy. Since then, I have steadily been losing the rest of them to dropsy. One is currently struggling and another seems to be in the early stages. I already tried to medicate with zero success, so it looks like they're all going to die.
If that ends up being the case, I need a bit of advice on what to do about this. Should I drain my tank, refill with new water and let in run for a few days without water conditioner? Will the chlorine in the water disinfect for me? I don't want to add any other fish to the same water and see them die too.
Also, what do I do if say 2 or 3 make it? Is there anything I can do to ensure that whatever bacteria is infecting them is gone before adding anything else?
What do you do after fighting a losing battle such as this to start over?
Thanks for your help...
