I don't think we have ASBOs in the States. (For anyone else who has no idea what that is, I googled it and found this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-Social_Behaviour_Order.)

That is a truly tragic story. I hope for everyone's sakes that it was an accident. I think that would be easier to comprehend. Unfortunately, with a shot to the back of the head, I have a hard time seeing how it could be unintentional.

it wasn't accident she was sleeping and he went upstairs to get gun and hid it in a blanket shot her while she slept and put back in blanket and went back upstairs to put it away and her daughter said what was that and he said nothing and said lets get to school,..
premeditated........

For one, at 11 years old you shouldn't know how to load a shotgun. I was brought up around guns when I was a child, as my father worked with them part time and taught me proper gun safety when I was old enough to learn it. I don't know any 11 year olds who know how to load a shotgun (and its not something that can very easily be learned from watching it done in a video game as some might think). If I'm correct that this kid didn't know how to either, then daddy left a loaded gun in a place where it wasn't locked up and a kid could get to it...

Then again with todays kids you never know what they are capable of.

in minnesota at 12years old you can turky hunt.

How many do you know that do so? I'm sure there are exceptions, but in todays society I certainly wouldn't think it would be the norm. Unfortunetly many young parents these days are afraid and don't know how to control their kids to begin with... they wouldn't even think about teaching them how to use a gun.

Reguardless, my point was a shotgun and its ammunition should not be left in a way that an eleven year old has access to them... period.

maybe not in your neck of the woods.. in other areas of the country, it is still most certainly the norm.
