I put 2 otos in my 10 gallon yesterday, one did',nt look like he was going to make but I thought he might come around
Today he is nowhere to be found
He must have died but where did he go
I pulled out my driftwood and searched the plants and filter, nothing
could he have burrowed into the gravel
I just don't know

I have Otos in 2 of my tanks and they are great at hiding. I thought for sure that one died and was eaten by the other fish only to have him show up a couple of days later.

I found a little dried up oto corpse on my counter the other day. :(

chances are unless you find him dead, he's still alive. check behind your filter hoses etc, if you REALLY must find him, otherwise relax. searching for them only makes them hide more.

I really don't need to find him,I just don't want him to rot if he is dead and cause problems

a dead oto will not cause a huge spike in your water perams. Now 3 dead otos might, or a 5" pleco, but not a single oto.

have you searched on the outside of the tank to see if he jumped?

They are extremely great hiders....and jumpers! I'm always thinking I'm missing one or two and they show up another time. I've also found one on the counter dried up!

I've found out from experience that they can adjust their colors to blend in with gravel and driftwood. They're tricky little things.

They ARE great hiders, but what elseis in the tank? My shrimp and snails can clean an Oto to the bones in less than a day ! Larger fish may eat all
I've had them jump into the out-take of my hob filter. Check in there you never know,
