Any idea why the name angel fish comes from?

Please shred me some knowledge. All i know is they are faithful couple and they don't replace their lost partner.

I don't know... maybe because they tend to have those big fins and look so ethereal....
so otherworldly....
However, they can be mean as snakes, lol.:)
I guess not mean... they just do what they do... but I know someone who had some neons in with angels and the ate the eyes off the neons.... yuck! :yuck::nilly:

Also, I had 2 very small ones that kept biting and trying to eat my bridgesii's antennae...:eek:

My angel is far from being an angel, she tries to attack me through the glass whenever I come to the tank.

unknown why they are called angels ..maybe because they are graceful with tall flowing fins.

the Domestics are usually faithful but have been known to harass their partner. in some cases they will change partners.
I suspect to continue the species.
