Plants Rotting

I recently received a plant package with a bunch of hygros, and watersprite. I put them into my eco-complete carefully and made sure they were going to stay pretty good. Now they keep coming out and floating to the surface. the bottoms are always mushy like they are rotting or something. Did I do something wrong, or how can I fix this?

Do they have established roots or are they just cuttings?

I'd trim off the bottoms.

could your float them for a few days/weeks untill they get roots??

With the plants in question, it should work. Watersprite, especially, works well as a floater.

Thanks, Ill try to float the watersprite. I have like 30 stems of hygro which I assume are trimmings. If they come out, I'll trim them and let them float, if not then awesome I guess.

I've had the most problems with hygros not rooting initially, but once they get some going they stay down.

In addition Stussy make sure they're not getting beat up by a hob or any current.
