I am going to use this opportunity to introduce myself and answer part of a question posed to me on another thread. (I am going to use this opportunity to introduce myself and answer part of a question posed to me on another thread. Well you assumed kind of correctly. You could call me new to aquarium keeping in as much that I want to do it right this time. My mother is very good with fish tanks and I was as a teenager as well and she is very much anti-chemical when it comes to her fish and does very well with them admittedly though she only raises gold fish. She believes in letting every thing sit for weeks and weeks and that that will take care of all issues. I am sort of like her but would rather use chemicals than have mu fish die :P As a teenager I had a couple of tanks but they were all gold fish tanks and they did very well. When I was in my early 20’s a man gave me his 150 gallon tank filled with cichlids and I moved to an apartment that did not allow such large tanks and I did well it as well, while I had it. Then two years ago I bought a fifty gallon tank did everything I have now and all the fish died the day after I got them so and I said forget it. So remember back when I said I had goldfish as a teenager? I had what the pet shop called an amber light quarts oronda. I loved him very much and he was as big as the palm of my hand. I moved out and about two years later my mom said he went belly up. His name was big ugly. My mother, then an arts and crafts instructor for the military made me a large circular stained glass gold fish sun catcher that looked like Big Ugly and when I move to I let it at her house by accident and she took it and affixed it to the back of a 10gal fish tank surrounded by those smooth, glass stones in various shades of blue and gave it to me along with the hood, filter/aeration system. I bought some clear glass bulbs 25 w, some plants, a heater, blue and turquoise gravel to go with the stained glass backing. So I am back in the fish life because of her gift and at the demands of my kiddies. I am jenny , mother of 4 kids, 1 rabbit, 2 dogs, 1 cat, 1 terrarium, and for now one aquatic terrarium I hope one day to be a home for guppies, neons and one placostomus(gosh the spelling) However back to that initial post of mine: My aquarium might not be a fish home anytime soon. http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=184094)
