Still a couple of plant species that don't fit... One is the "grass" as I'm trying to decide what to replace it with. I'm thinking some anchored Riccia. And the other is the Lloydellia, which was a free plant with an order from Mikeswetpets, that I didn't know what else to do with it, but it's a cultivar, so the way I figure it isn't as bad as a species from another region! Warped? Sure.
Here's what it looked like when I first did it, and was hoping it would grow in happily. It never really did - thanks loach, for unplanting daily! I'd also been a little naive buying my plants and got some wrong species.
After adding some Najas Indica, it looked a little more lush, at least...
My housemate liked this generation of things, btw.
I have since spent WEEKS getting the OBNOXIOUSA indica out of it! It kept breaking off and going everywhere, including clogging up the intake pre-filter!!
And today my plants came in from Aquariumplants.com. After ordering from someone on ebay (NOT Mikeswetpets - his were good, if duckweedy and snaily) three times and getting nasty looking plants two times, with missing plants those same two times, and then no plants at all the third time, AND after having ordered a large batch of plants for the Amazon and liking them so well, I ordered from aquariumplants.com again. I was trying to get some species that would contrast with the green, and also varying leaf shapes/sizes for texture. I didn't quite realize how many PINK plants I had ultimately ordered!! :lol2: Here's the result:
And the layout chart I put together before planting, so I wouldn't be tempted to just go willy-nilly on it!
Cousin It (the Marimo) is not on the chart, since he just goes where ever he feels like it, it seems!
I'm thinking of switching the Nanjenshan with the Lloydellia, for a texture and color contrast difference. What do you think? Rather than have the pinkish tops of the needly-leafed Nan right next to the pink, thin leafed Indica?
I'll get some better photos later, when it's dark outside so I don't get glare from the windows. AND when things have settled down more after being stirred up.
The fishes seem to like it, even if my housemate did quip, "So... where are the fish going to swim, now?" :silly: :lol2:
