The little one is so cute:)
Nice! How about some black construction paper taped to the back of the tank to show off those beautifull fish?

Thats a very clean and beautiful tank imo.
Does that rooseveltiella nattereri ever fight with the oscar? I have never heard any good stories about those two species together- what do you feed them?

And that is not a Piranha, it is a Pacu. The Pacu is a vegetarian.

yah it is a red pacu. i feed them a varity of foods such as tetra cichlid pellets, hikari cichlid pellets, wardely cichlid pellets, tetra tropical flake food, spirulina discs, tubifex worms, fresh veggies, crickets, fish, and crayfish.

Wow that is a really nice bright color if that is a Pacu - are you gonna keep it in the 150 for good or upgrade? They can grow like nothing else. Do you like keeping it because I used to have some and I thought they were great, especially with my silver arowanas- they never kept that great color once they got that big though (thats why i assumed it was a r.piranha or a spotted piranha, they usually stay colorful to a greater size)

i would really love to keep my pacu but he'll eventually outgrow my tank. as for upgrading, i defenately will but it'll be a few years. im looking for something in the 300 to 500 gallon range next time around. my pacu has maintained his great color for a long time hpoefully he'll hold on to it. i attribute his color to both diet and frequent water changes(25 to 35 percent every week).

I read on aquaworld that angels and oscars go well together and always thought it would be interesting to have them both. How big is your angel?
BTW, I love your smaller oscar, he's very vibrant in color.
very nice fish! and tank :D
but personally i'd change the backing paper, as sais before, maybe black or even some slate glued to the back of the tank? just to make it a bit more interesting..you could even grow some moss in the gaps in the slate wall? just an idea
enjoy :)

my angel is about the size of a half dollar(meaning his body). he's got some descent finnage too so id say about 3 inches max...
Im gonna take your word for it and try some black background to replace my blue background...when im done ill take some pix so you can see
thanks for all the positive responses!!!!
I used cheap black construction paper, just taped to the back of the tank. Looks great! You can probably see the results yourself in 'Enter my tank' below.

ah i see, it does amplify the colors of your tank. im gonna have to get poster boards though because my tanks is six feet long and 30 inches tall. ill tape em together with shipping tape.
thanks matak

don't use paper, use flat black 100% latex paint. just roll it on the outside, done in minnutes. wipe it down with a little vinegar first, wipe it off, let it dry, paint it and your done for the life of the tank. paper fades after so much exposure to the light.

good idea, but i dont think i want to permanently color it black just in case i ever decided to sell it. not to mention that its already set up which means id have to break it down and pull it away from the wall. setting up the tank was a tough job beacuse of its size and weight.

Yea, just use construction paper and after awhile, change it. Cost like a dollar for about 5 huge sheets.
Yep, NJDF was the one that turned me on to the construction paper idea. If you do a neat job of taping it together, you can't even see the seems and it looks pretty good!

I took a piece of cardboard from a large cardboard box, painted it a matte black and taped it onto the back of my tank. Some of the rinkles in it created a pretty cool 3-d effect.

nice tank. i like the color of the backdrop. guys, if you can find a Tap Plastic shop in your area, they got large vinyl sheets, solid black among a few other colors, for a mere $5 or less. you can easily cut it to size and mount to the glass. very sturdy and waterproof.
