1.) A long time ago (in a far away land... j/k), I bought two Peppered Cories (Corydoras paleatus) from Petco. And recently one of them died, so I went out to buy a small group of new friends for the lonely Cory. Well, they didn't sell Peppered Cories anymore but had Spotted Cories (Corydoras agassizii) and I bought some. But now that they've colored up, they look just like my old Cory. So, what do I have (what was labeled wrong)?:

The big one is my original Cory

2.) One of the new Cories I bought has an eye that looks like it has glaucoma covering it. Do fish get glaucoma? If not, what else could it be? And the fish seems to be healthy and active otherwise, but will the loss of vision (because I can't imagine it can see out of that one eye) in one eye be detrimental to it in the long run?

3.) A LFS is clearing out a large tank of assorted Cories (Panda, Adolfoi, Julii, Aeneus and I bunch I don't recognize) for $1/ea to make room for new stock. I wanted to pick up a few of the Cories but the tank they're in is very disgusting and in bad condition (poor water quality, overcrowded, some dead fish, etc). So, I was wondering if Cories were hardy enough to live in such deplorable conditions that if I bought some they'd actually have a chance of surviving quarantine and being introduced to my tanks? Or is it more likely that they're going to be sick and die off even once removed from the LFS?

Anyway, thanks for any comments, advice, etc!

The new ones look like they could be jumbo peppered corys, as they look slightly different from regular peppers.

Some corys are hardy, e.g. peppers, but corys like juliis are not as hardy. Thh ey need good water conditions. Well, all fish do, but jullis won't tolerate very poor quality.

Your cory more than likely has a cloudy eye to do water quality issues at the LFS. Do some extra water changes for him and it should clear up quickly. Congrats on the new cories!

As far as the $1 cory sale in awful water conditions, as long as you're going to QT them for a while, I'd say give it a go! $1 is an insanely great price! I'd be tempted to stay away from the pandas and julli since they are more sensitive and not as hardy and have been living in bad water. And acclimiate them slowly, sounds like they're not used to clean water!

even if they arent peppered cories, getting some for the sake of the lone one you have will be a good thing for that cory. they are very social and are definately more comfortable in groups.

do quarantine them until the one with cloudy eye clears up
