I moved my convict today and looks like the move was a success. He doesn't really look stressed about it. My JD was just getting too mean with him and he was getting injured. The convict is in a 10g tank right now. I know it's small, but it's only temporary. I'm going to be moving into an apartment where I will have room for a larger tank. My Oscar will be put into the larger tank and the convict will go in there with him since the Oscar does not show as much agression towards the convict as the JD does. The JD will stay in the 33g. Does this sound like a good idea?

I'm planning on getting a 55g

I would get a 90g tank and keep all three together....

An Oscar will eventually be cramped in a 55, it's only 12" front to back.

I don't think I will have enough $$$ and plus the JD is way too agressive towards the convict. He was always nipping it and making its fins all tattered and its sides all scratched up. Now I'm medicating the convict's wounds and he does seem to be doing a lot better now.

If you provide enough cover in the tank, and make caves for the convict to escape to, it will do fine. My convict lives with midas cichlids twice his size and holds his own. Of course, having a bigger tank helps...

If you could stretch your budget another 50 - 100 bucks your Oscar will be much happier in a 75 gallon setup.

YEA I WOULD GO WITH AT LEAST A 75G OR 90G, THEY WOULD BE BETTER SUITED FOR YOUR FISH. AS WE ALWAYS SAY, BUY THE BIGGEST TANK POSSIBLE.
