Sure, bulbs burn out, but this one pretty much blew out of it's casing..

I had a screw-in compact fluorescent do something similar, a capacitor blew itself up and cracked the housing wide open. I replaced the capacitor, two years later the ballast is still running an F15T8 over a 10-gallon quarantine tank. Waste not, want not. :)

I threw out the packaging long ago, so I don't even know who made it. Besides, it was only like a dollar.
Had fun picking out some of the pieces that fell into the water. /sarcasm

I lost a tank full of fish that way. Thank goodness it was a small tank with very few fish. My problem was getting everything clean enough that I was willing to put fish into the tank again.

I prefer not to have lights that close to open water. The humidity is a killer.
