I have been begging my parents to let me get a pond for a really long time now, and they have just started to really consider it.

I was thinking, there is a huge ivy bed in our backyard, it gets full sun most of the day, and some shade in the early morning and evening. I'd love to dig a 2 by 4 by 2 footish pond back there for some fish.

the only problem, is that we are only at this house every weekend to every other weekend, the rest of the time we are in the city...

my plan would be to have lots of plants, a waterfall, some hiding places (such as flower pots, ect) and some pond screen to put over it when we're not here.

my plan would be to bring the fish inside, if needed, in the winter. it would be pretty easy to bring the fish back to the city and put them in the spare 40br and 29g I have until spring.

so, could this work? what would be the best thing to use for plumbing? a filter? a pump? any ideas?
