The cory I posted about last night died this morning...he looked perfectly normal until I took him out of the tank and examined him...no clue how this happened to him...poor guy.

So sorry for your loss.

I went to look at your post from last night. Sorry I didn't see it last night.

There is an article by one of our members on humane euthanasia. It is a sad task, but one that can be the kindest act on our part when a fish is suffering and we feel we can't help it get better.

I've had to do this a couple of times, and it is truly a blessing to know how to do this in a kind, gentle, peaceful way that does not stress or cause distress to the fish.

Here it is:

anyone have and idea what can cause a hole like that to develop out of the blue? I was watching the school and everything was fine..then this guy starts spinning around and flying around the tank..was near no other fish or anything when it happened....any ideas?

Is there anything in the tank that he could have "flown" into to cause that hole? That's a pretty good sized hole!

I'm sooo sorry :(

he's in a community tank with no aggresive fish, mostly all mollies, platy's, swordtails. two bala sharks. Strange thing is I happened to be watching them play in the center of the tank...they were perfectly fine..then he just started flipping around and spinning out of control. they were in the center of the tank with nothing around them...there isn't anything sharp in the entire tank....it was very strange. Been a few days and all other fish are still fine.

Something caused that hole though, and it more than likely was the cause of death. How long had you had that cory?
