Hello everyone:)

I have a berried ghost shrimp, I wish I could tell you the scientific name, but all I know is that I got it from walmart:eek:. They were so cheap and I figured my rope fish might like a little snack. I was just wondering if these can successfully give birth in fresh water, or will the water need to be brackish? I want to try and keep the babies and hopefully breed these successfully.

Thanks!

they only need freshwater. do a little digging on the board. you will see that you will also need a grow out tank as the parents will snack on the little ones and a sponge filter, or the babies (and adults) might get sucked into the filter. the babies go through a period where they live as free swimming larvae before metamorphosing into benthic shrimp.

thank you:)

I have the female separated right now into her own tank until the babies hatch. Would a sponge over the filter intake be ok or would I need an actual sponge filter?
