I think we are all missing out on a money making venture. All the LFS around here (Mesa-Tempe-Gilbert, AZ) have live amphipods in deli cups. They go for $7.99 abnd you get about 25-30 for that money. I buy 400 of them from the breeder for $40 and keep my fuge stocked. I know they grow, becuase at night I see them in the DT and the fuge all the time, but they never are "out of control" enough to say I could start selling them.

Has anyone had any luck raising them? or a secret to overpopulating them.

I would have a lot more if it weren't for my wrasse collection, they are real pod pigs.

A dirty tank that is heavily fed with lots of small hiding places is the absolute perfect breeding ground for amphipods. They eat just about anything (I watch them snatch pellets, flakes, etc.), so they aren't difficult, but providing the right amount with a minimal amount of predators is the key.

would clownfish eat these?
i've been wondering what to get that would live and grow in there for food source for them i have some kind of teeny tiny lobster looking creatures dot size in there now bthat they are snacking on but they are kinda keeping the number down too far for them to grow,
(sorry for hyjacking)

Amp: I just wish I could grow them at a greater rate than my wrasses can consume them....just haven't found that balance yet.

Dixie: clowns love them, mine like to chase after them - must be more interesting to eat them if they are moving. Most a the right size for a mouthful.
