I know very little about cichlids, but I think the eggs should be fine for at least a few days until they start to hatch; assuming the parents are guarding them, which would be normal.

Then you can decide whether to remove them, depending on the situation in your tank.

I guess it depends which of them is guarding the eggs - with cichlids, it could one or the other, or both in turns. I don't know what's normal with this species. I would imagine you don't need both, but it might be safer to leave them both if they are both involved in guarding the eggs.

Leave them alone untill they hatch.. cichlids will not eat the eggs-- and you cant remove the male because he is the one who fertalizes them.

let them hatch-- and then move the fry out (or all the other fish)

Yeah, but he will have fertilised them when they were laid. Nevertheless, with most cichlid species both parents guard them, so should be left in.

Sometimes cichlids will take several tries before getting a spawn correct from beginning to end. Often they will eat the eggs the first few times, especially if there are other large fish in the tank. Let the parents take care of them, if they make it until hatching, I would remove them when they become wigglers. You will need a food source for them, something like daphnia or baby brine shrimp. You can culture/hatch these yourself, or some LFSs will offer them frozen.

o wow so i need the male in there to fertalizes the eggs >.<
so my pair laid eggs last night bout 7:00 but then when i was about to go to sleep i divided the male because the female was kicking the male around...
i dont know if the eggs are fertalizes yet so if i put my male in right now, will my eggs still hatch?

Infertile eggs will turn white, and should be removed (though the female will likely take care of it.) Otherwise, since it's their first spawn chances are good the eggs or fry will be eaten within a few days. The eggs would have been fertilized when the female laid them, after that it's a good idea to separate the parents if one is getting beat up.

The eggs are fertilised at the same time as they are laid. They are not fertilised some time later. As the female lays them, the male comes along behind fertilising them.

Just my piece of info: I'm a newbie with Cichlids (1 year of eperience) but I do have eperience with Fry and mating in a community tank... so heres what I've been through with them. The first time there were eggs in my tank nothing happened- no babies or they were all eaten. The second time fry survived but I killed them with too big of a waterchange. The third time the male got VERY aggressive and I took him from the tank... turns out he was being aggressive to keep the other fish off the fry... the babies were all eaten shortly after I removed him. have finally got it right- there are 3 batches of Fry thriving in my aquarium right now, and luckily I'm good with my LFS and could bring them by there if it gets too crowded.

This is how I manage them:

I don't do ANYTHING special. The other fish will eat the fry- but rest assured some will survive with enough rock formations and you dont always see them... When I do notice little fry I IMMEDIATLY get on 10% waterchanges every other day. I don't change around the rock formation and I dont feed them anything special. This is kind of mean but... the fry will eat the crumbs the big guys make from pellets... its cute to see them eating up the little specks! When they are less than 1 inch or so they are no threat to the other fish for food so they are usually left alone.

That's about where I am with my fry so I dont have much more info than that. I'm no expert but I know I always like to know what other ppl go through with simmilar situations. #1 thing I can recommend is if they do make it, be SURE to start small, frequent waterchanges or else you will shock them with your first large one. #2 thing- dont remove either parent. Cichlids protect their young and you are more than likley giving them a death sentence by doing so rather than not. (As I have learned.)

Hope it helps a bit- but it looks like you have great advice from others as well! :)

Well I'm not an expert but the aquarium that i go to had childs hatch and what he did was the female should take care of them but once they get to big to fit in her mouth you should take the babies out, Especially if you have other aggressive fish in the tank. Also make sure you don't have any bottom feeders cuz the chilids will eat the eggs if they are threatened by any fish.
