Anyone have experience or opinions on the compatibility of firemouths and rams being kept together? Thanks!

I personally wouldn't do it due to the firemouth aggressiveness to other fish when spawning. Rams are just too docile to be kept with firemouths

I had one in the tank for some time, nothing happened. but I finally got rid of the fire mouths as they would not leave anyone alone after a year and wanting to spawn.

There's no way I would chance it. Like other cichlids, firemouths can vary widely in terms of personality. You may run across one that is relatively passive and can coexist peacefully with rams.... or, you may end up with one like mine. ;)
