Have one collecting dust right now. It’s for sale. However, it does need a new needle wheel impeller (or a new pump). That didn’t last very long…about 6 months. I think you get what you pay for….for a $125 - $135 skimmer, it does an OK job. It’s made of molded plastic, which just isn’t as meaty as the other skimmers I have…an MRC and the MTC…which are made of machined acrylic. But than again, these are 350 - 450 dollar skimmers (and that doesn’t include the cost for the pump), and are for much bigger tanks.

To empty the skimmate, the top portion easily twists off. It has a relatively small footprint and therefore fits into small sump setups. When I first set this up, it took a bit of playing around with how deep it sat in the sump. But once that was done, it ran just fine until the pump started getting noisy…the needle wheel needed replacement.

Here’s the link for Marine Depot that includes some reviews:

You may want to look into some of the Deltec hang-on skimmers and the like. Pricey, but the performance is top notch. The MCE 300 is very compact and may be along the lines of what you'd want. Just a thought.

Well I have a CSS65 running on my 55, which has been adequate, but I'm sort of keeping an eye out for a deal. The mini-g came up for sale on RC for 40 bucks without the pump, so would be about 80 bucks total. Probably not worth it if its not going to be much of an improvement.
