View Full Version : somebody ate the bala!

I can't imagine what happened... Everyone seemed to be getting along nicely for a few months (2 Gouramis, 2 clown loach, 2 red tiger barbs, and a placo). Feed them 2x/day just enough for them to eat everything up in a few minutes. Tank is nice and balanced.

Next day, it looks like a pack or pirahnas had gotten to the bala shark (3-4") - just a skeleton! It was one of the scariest things I've seen.

We have no idea what happened.... Nobody was missing anything else. It's been a week and all seems fine again... I'd like to replace the bala, but I guess that might not be the fish to get!

Any thoughts...?

I honestly don't think it was one of your fish that specifically killed the bala. It doesn't surprise though that the pleco (maybe others too) would eat your fish after it was dead. It probably died beforehand and the fish devoured him.

Thanks... I was in the process of shopping for a bigger tank (46 gal bow front or 55 gallon)... I love the loaches and wanted to make a better home for them. I will definitely stick to smaller fish sizes...

hineigger,

People are just trying to save NellyBelly big problems in the future. They are also trying to help the fish. If you are unwilling to listen to the advice of others, you shouln't say anything unless you have other advice which is helpful and relevant to the question asked.

Seems like he is the only one who is complaining about this...and the comments aren't even directed towards him.
