I got a new about quarter sized blue brigs and the golden one immediately got on top of it and was doing things to it for hours. Today it looked ok, not hurt, but when I turned off the lights the golden one jumped on top of the blue one again.
What's going on here?
I have a pic, not sure how to post it, do I have to link to an external storage site?

Your snail is trying to copulate with the new snail. Males are quite overzealous with that and might just stress out the other snail. I'd isolate the male temporarily if I were you.

It's been like that for a several hours a day for 3 days, I got another brigs today so I hope another female for the guy to spread his love around. If not, then I'll take the female out as you suggested. Thanks for the pic tutorial link!

mine have been doing this for about a week now, how long does it take before they start laying eggs? In fact they are doing it now as I type this!! I would love to have some baby mysteries around!

ha I didn't know that, I suppose I should check:-/

would it be safe to say that they are different sexes if only one ever tries to mount the other one? My gold mystery is the onlyone that eer tries to do anything, the darker one I have has never tried to do anything, and just takes it:-0

My boys certainly don't mind. You have a very pretty blue by the way :) It can take 2-3 weeks after lays are hatched depending on your tank temperature (warmer temp=they'll hatch more quickly, also means your snails will grow more quickly). It's hard to say when she'll lay eggs as they can store sperm. Keep the water line a little lowered so she has a space to. You can tell if they're both male if the snails switch who is on top and bottom. That's how I found out they are two boys!

well judging by all the sexing guides out there, and the fact that my darker one is NEVER on top, I do indeed think I have a male and a female,

sorry to steal your thread Reframer, it's all yours again! lol
