so the outflow of an HOB filter will cause much surface agitation and hence a loss of co2. What if something was put in front of the outflow of the HOB filter in order to minimize surface agitation? or even slow it so that it enters the tank in a more peaceful manner?

water movement within the tank would be lessened i would imagine because there is no longer a stream of water flowing out of the outflow.

that lack of flow can be made up with a powehead.

anyone follow this? would this theory work?

This is a great question. I want to go planted and I have 2 HOB's and am running into the same concerns....
