I ordered a Red Tiger Lotus online recently and received a bulb instead of an adult plant. Now I've had 50/50 success with bulbs in the past, it has only been 2 days since it's planted and I don't see anything growing, I know its still early to determine anything but, is there some way to make the spurting of these faster or more successful? I would really like to make this bulb grow! What could I do to ensure that the bulb opens and the plant starts growing? Is there some way it should be specifically planted? Thanks in advance!

Just toss it in the tank (leave the bulb resting on the substrate). Eventually it will grow.

Its been hit or miss for me. I threw two in at the same time and one grew amazingly and the other looks to be a dud. I added ferts like usual and the rest was history :) the roots grew super fast (by the end of the day it seemed to have doubled in size, though that was when it was first growing) Good luck!

I hope it does well for you, it is a beautiful plant!

I throw them in and hope for the best. Sometimes it took weeks before they started rooting.

time will tell, Mine take a few weeks to sprout, they grow big, detach, and then more will grow from the bulb in time, check it after a week for smell, in case its rotting, some of them do, but dont plant it cause that will promote it to rot.

So how do I hold it down so the bulb doesn't roll through the hole tank? With an iron weight that's used for other planting purposes?

oh, it floats, hmmm.... mine dont float. I would definetely check it in a week to make sure it doesnt rot, maybe you can weigh it down between two rocks? I dont like lead weights, they tear up my plants, but maybe its called for in this circumstance.
