I got four 2-3" FM's from my LFS, intendeing to return 2, so that I ahve a pair. I have had them for just over 2 weeks, and I have noticed that they all tolerate each other. I am pretty sure that I ahve 2 males and 2 females. At first, they chased each other a lot, but now, not at all. Would I be okay with just picking a male and female for a pair?
Tank is 29 g - 2 serpae tetra, clown pleco

I would wait till you have a definate pair...the bond will be stronger and more likely to breed for you in the future.

I feel bad because the Assistant Manager at the store I got them from had to bend the rules just to get me to be able to return them. It's been about 2.5 weeks since I bought them. I do seem to notice 2 that are around each other a lot, and I was going to keep those. Could these be a pair?

They will act completely different at adult size-- especially when breeding pair is definately established

I already answered your question a couple days ago...Wait till you have a definate pair.
