I'm getting ready to sell my 35g brackish tank, i'm going to sell it as a complete setup with the fish. At the moment the tank has a cheap internal filter and a sponge filter. I am also selling my canisters (2x fluvals and an eheim), do you think i would do better selling them if i swap the naff filters in this tank for one of my canisters?

I have no opinion on what you've asked, but you'd probably be better off splitting the fish out. There have been numerous times that I've passed a deal because I didn't want to hassle with the fish. Plus it reduces the risk of the new owners not wanting/not caring for them, or dumping them or anything weird like that. Good luck with the sale though.

Another question.
I also have a hydor 300w in-line heater, should i sell this with one of the filters or should i sell it separately?

Ok i'll rehome the fish first, but do you think i would do better selling the tank with the canister or should i sell it with the internal filter?

I think it depends on who you're selling this to - a group of experienced fishkeepers like here at our forum or to the regular public (as in Craigslist)?

I know the difference between the good stuff I really want (those fluvals and eheims) and the cheap stuff I'll end up spending real money to upgrade eventually. So as a buyer, I look for great deals on a setup that comes with the best equipment I can get. But I'll also pay more for those. If the whole thing comes with low end equipment, I'll usually let those pass. Or just throw out a ridiculously low offer, not caring if I get it or not. But a high percentage of potential buyers out there won't know the difference between one kind of filter and another.

One idea you might think about is list your tank and stand only for whatever price you set. Then include in the same ad separate pricing for the high end filters. That lets any buyer out there grab the tank and stand at a lower price. But if they also need a filter for it or they know a great price for a fancy filter (or upgraded lighting.. whatever else), he/she can get that too. It's just going to cost an extra $50 or so. This gets your tank and stand sold easily. In the end, if you're left with an extra fluval or eheim you still don't want, you can sell that to us here.

Thanks, i think i'll sell it all separately.
I would send it to you but i'm sure the shipping woud cost more than the filters are worth.
