im down to my last zebra danio and she has been gravid for some time. occasionally, i have noticed that she has released some of her eggs, but now she is at an all time high in size. her body has stayed symetrical through most of it, but today i have noticed that it appears she is going to blow out on one side. her right side is starting to bulge out more than the left and it also appears to be affecting her swimming. she definately is not as active as danios normally are. any ideas as to what i should do with her? should she be put down? thanks for any info.

Any scale distortion? Water parameters? While fish can become egg-bound, it is not a frequent occurance (natural selection removes those fish from the gene pool). Since the problem is getting worse, I would suspect something else.

actually, i havent checked my parameters for some time, so i will do so this weekend and post back. other tank mates seem to be doing fine. business as usual. i dont know about scale distortion, but possibly some spinal distortion is occuring. skin seems to be at the breaking point and, while im not a vet by any means, it appears maybe some blood vessels have ruptured around the gills(reddish appearance).
