Hi,

I have one ADF in my 15g tank (normal dimensions) who seems to have some sort of infection or fungus of some sort

One of his toes are extremely inflamed and white in colour and the one directly beside it is extremely red and looks injured

and to boot he has some white looking bumps on his back that have developed in the past 2 hours

Help please...I have Pimafix and Melafix meds
any suggestions would be much appreciated...I fear he might not last long

now he's just floating on the top almost always and swimming to find a calm spot...the white spots on his back seem to be spreading towards his head -_-

i put some Melafix in and his foot seems to have reduced a little...i'm worried the white spots are a fungal infection...

keep dosing the melafix untill the bottle is gone... ADFs arent very hardy and he may not make it-- but its worth a try

alright I will for sure

thank you very much for responding

any ideas on the white spots? if they are a fungal infection, Melafix won't help will it?

this sucks -_-

well... its not an antifungal but it still tends to help in certain cases and it certainly wont hurt

my experience with ADFs is that they are really prone to premature death if kept in fishtanks for some reason... I have never had one make it

there is treatments for fungal infections available as well-- you could try one. but im not sure how it will affect amphibions

worth a try though, as he will likely not make it if untreated

as far as specific disease.. I really dont know TBH- im not a frog expert and im not sure what diseases they get

sorry your having problems though... hang in there

should i isolate him?
atm I have him in a 15g with 3 other ADF also who all are not showing any symptoms

the only other option I have is to stick him in my community 29g which is pretty much maxed with fish as is...

I definately wouldnt put him in the community tank-- just in case its something that a fish can get as well

maybe go get a small 1g tank or something if you have the means to do so... otherwise just leave him there and treat him as best you can... and monitor the other frogs as well

if he doesnt improve.. you may have to euthanize-- but be sure you have done everything you can first

i noticed the frog trying to unsuccefully swim to the surface around 2am...
so i helped him to the top and continued to do so until 4:30am -_-
i passed out and woke up at 7 and he was gone already...
i just wish there was more i could do...

based on the links i've seen he seemed to have a bacterial infection on his foot coupled with a fungal infection on his back (and i've read that the fungal infection are soon to follow some bacterial infections in amphibians)
needless to say it was only less than about 15 hours give or take and he was gone -_-

...it's a sad day

thanks very much to 7itanium and rbishop for your help (the link was very helpful)
