Fish Only Question

Thus far i have stayed away from SW because of the imense expense needed to start a tank properly. I understand that live rock usually is enough proper bio filtration if its in a large enough quantity. Well i wanna do a clown fish tank without the lr or corals and do possibly a narly arse slate kinda set up. I can always add corals later if i decide to pimp out a light system. I would use a canister filter, get some powerheads as well as proper substrate. protein skimmer is pretty much a necessity so one of those.

anyone have suggestions for a FO setup?

well.. I would strongly reccomend you at least get a few pounds of LR rubble.. its cheap and it will help immensly

also-- SAND IS A MUST-- dont use crushed coral substrate

other than that... I think it will be a cool tank

why no crushed coral? i am ok with SW, more of a fw guy, also it would be around a 30 gallon tank
