Just west of Saratoga Springs, NY
Ah spring! I was rudely awakened this morning by a hysterical housemate... "The house is flooding! The house is flooding! OMG! Where's the sump pump!" "Hang on... let me get dressed...." "You don't have time to get dressed!! It's about to flood the motor of the furnace!!" :22_yikes:

3" in some places, 6 in others. If it weren't for the dirt that one can never QUITE get all cleaned off a basement floor, we could toss a dozen submersible heaters down there and threw the fish in.... ;)

Well... our house (which we rent) has just acquired itself a name. Fort Flood.

Anyone else enjoying the Spring Thaw?

dude... invest in a couple fans and a great dehumidifier... a shopvac and submersibles are a must... make sure the floor slopes down or drains into somewhere the pumps can go... bleach everything once done and use a hose to rinse it down.... a mesh net helps keep things out of your sump... you can start bigger and work your way down, but 1/4" mesh is necessary in most cases... you can use shop brooms for scrub brushes and old towels top off a mop quite nicely and can be washed easily in the washer between uses... a squeegie comes in real handy also.... make sure the humidity is controllable b4 adding fans or your rafters will rain... good luck... this is just a quick over view... if you have any questions on what to do feel free to pm me... i ran a couple crews doing fire and water restoration for a while, so i can help with many issues or questions i'm sure you may have

also, renters insurance is cheap and can save your a** next time! think about it.

Oh no! That's terrible. I guess you'll be busy for a while cleaning that up.
