Hey everyone I am for the most part as new as it gets to this aquarium thing. I bought one for my girlfriend for our anniversary and then I decided to buy myself one. Thus far I have a 40 gallon breeder tank on a custom made stand (which i am very proud of i'll gladly post some pictures if anyone is looking for inspiration!!!)But back to the point I have just set up a fluval 305 and it doesnt seem to be working right. Its brand new fresh out of the packaging, but the intake barely sucking. The output on the other hand is working well, as far as I know. I put a piece of plastic bag near the input tube and it won't even cling to it! Any ideas?

Welcome, Chris. Check all the hose, tube, nozzle connections to make sure they're snug. Open up the canister and see if all the trays are seated right, lift them out and repack it. Check gaskets/rings/etc. to make sure nothing's missing or out of place. Is it fully primed? Sometimes, if you lift up the canister while it's running and tilt it horizontally - even lifting the bottom higher than the top, this forces out a pocket of air that's interfering with the water flow inside. You'll even hear and feel a big "whoosh" of air as that bleeds out the trapped bubble(s).

Good ideas but I've reset the entire system 4 times. Completely took it apart and started over. I'm at a loss. I'm waiting for Hagen to email me back. I don't know what the deal is. It seems to be pushing just fine but the pull is not even noticable.

Welcome to AC!

Welcome-I have a Fluval 404 and sometimes it can be hard to prime. Check your intake tubing to make sure it is not restricted. How far below the tank is it?
