My asian ambulia appears to be living quite comfortably in my 40.. but it's losing all the leaves on the lower half of the stem.
Why is this?
The lighting is.... 2 65w bulbs, 7000k I think. One is white, one is blue.
I can replant a cut piece and it will shoot straight up to the top of the tank, but never fails to lose its lower leaves.

The blue, actinic, light isn't helping much, you'd be better off switching it to white

The blue light adds a nice touch to the tank, and makes it easier to transition my fish from daytime to night. Plus, it really softens the harshness of the white light.
I do not want to change the bulbs out if I can avoid it..

If you are running 1 65 watt actinic and 1 65 watt daylight bulbs, you are only getting 65 watts worth of usable light from the bulbs.

Actinic isnt the right spectrum for plants.

Well, I've had no trouble growing plants. I was just wondering why this particular plant is doing what it's doing.
