I did my water changes again this morning AGAIN the blasted ammonia in the water!!! But this time I tested my water before adding prime, reading 0 after adding prime Ah HA! That's the culprit! I think I was overdosing on Prime. I put in less and crossed my fingers, readings were not at zero but at least my fish didn't gasp for air for 10 minutes.
Just for the heck of it I took fresh tap water, added a drop of prime and took a test... the water turned dark grey.
Has anyone ever had a problem using Prime? Should I change water conditioners?
