Ok, I can't post a pic of these fish but I will try again to explain and tell what I have learned. First, I bought them as blood parrots. I have had them about 10 months old and about 2 1/2 inches around. They are fairly round fish. They do not have the mouth of a blood parrot, and their bodies are not quite that round, but similar. I thought they looked like Severums, but after looking at some pictures, I don't think that is what they are. They have a blunter head. I found a picture in a book I have, it is called a Cichlasoma citrinellum, sorry I don't know what the common name is, they aren' written in the book. That is what the head of mine look like, but the body is rounder. Not sure if it means anything, but they also have little red teeth. I went back to the fish store and told the guy that what they had sold me were not parrots, and asked if he had any idea what they were. He then told me they were convicts? They don't look like any of the pics I have seen of any convicts. I have also seen some pics of red devils, and I don't think they look like that either. So if they aren't parrots, severums, convicts, or red devils, does anyone have another guess? And since parrots are hybirds, can they just get messed up and not look like anything? Are there Mutt fish? I am guessing it would not be a good idea for these fish to breed either? Help :(

im gonna say they are *probably* jelly bean parrots. as in they are the offspring of a female blood parrot and a male convict cichlid.

Correct scientific name is Amphilophus citrinellus. It is Midas. You can find full grown Midas in www.aquamojo.com or www.cichlidscene.com

What color is your fish? If you said it could be convict...possibly pink convict? If sold as blood parrot...it also could be King Kong Blood Parrot, which has the same of Blood Parrot body but midas head.

They are a very light orange. I looked at the websites, mine look like the Midas, but are all one color. So are they young Midas? Have we got a winner here? :D

It could be midas/red devil. Or king kong blood parrot.
