Hello to all that can help,

I had a 20 gallon with a rainbow shark, a clown loach, 2 Rainbow Tetra, 2 Mickey Platies, and a Molly. I decided to get a 55 gallon kit because my shark is getting too big and is bothering all the other fish. I used all the old gravel and water so that i wouldn't have to cycle for a month(this may have been a mistake but the petco aquatics guy said it would be okay)

I had the fish in there for about 3 days before i got more. I got 7 Giant Danio and 3 Flame Dwarf Gourami. It is now day 7 and 2 of the gourami are dead and my clown loach is about to die. His gills are puffing and he is swimming upside down and very clumsily. it was fine up until today. the shark's eyes are also very cloudy and he doesn't come out anymore. I don't know what to do. I got a test kit and it says my ammonia is at 0 but my nitrites are high but has come down from yesterday. i got some Biozyme from the LFS and they told me not to do anymore water changes for a while.

I just need to know what to do because i have had these fish for about 6 monthes and don't want all of them to die. :help:

I also set up the 20 gallon again and put the loach in it as a hospital tank.

number 1 your in the midst of a new cycle the old water conatins like 1% of you beneficial bacteria. the gravel is a good seed but its not enough to properly keep the fish healthy. number 2 never listen to pet store people they rarely know what there talking about. number 3 the clown is probly very stressed as they need to be in groups of minimum 5. how long have you had him? good chance if youve had for a long time he is stunted from not being in a big enough tank. they get over 16 inches long! number 4 do as much water changes as possible! that will remove the nitrites! number get a good liquid test kit API is a good. if you have strips there probly wrong there very inaccurate!! sorry this happenin and good work for coming and asking. because your doing a cycle do approx 50% water changes daily your fish will thank you! also increase your tetras schools they like to be in groups to.
