Okay, question about CO2...how long should a 5lb CO2 tank last on a 55g planted aquarium?

It has lasted forever and the needle has hardly moved on my Calcium Reactor but that only goes and two bubbles per second. How do you inject your CO2 into your planted tank? Do you use a glass diffuser or is there other ways?

Thanx Mike!

My CO2 is injected through a Reator 1000. I also use a pH controller. I maintain the pH between 6.75 and 7.0, with kH of 4-5, this gives me CO2 in the 15-30 ppm range most of the time. I hooked up my current bottle at the end of September, and the pressure needle still reads the same as when I bought it.

So, do you have to use a Reactor 1000?

I guess I really don't understand how CO2 works. I thought you just hooked the CO2 to a diffuser and called it "done". But I guess those are the old days, huh.

Is your pH controller hooked up to the CO2 solenoid?

Thanx! Mike

I am a "simplist. I run co2 at 20-25 bubbles/minute on my 50 gal. and put it through my Eheim 2026- no reactor or diffuser. I get about a year out of my 5 lb bottle.

Okay, how do you inject it into your canister. I am planning on a Filstar, so how would I do that?
