Your favorite carbon?

Hi all,

Since I'm in the process of surrendering to Multiple Tank Syndrome and want to run carbon, I figured it might be cheaper over the long run to buy bulk carbon, some bags, and make my own carbon inserts, rather than pay for new inserts for the Aquaclears every few weeks.

So, for those of you who use carbon, which is your favorite? My guess is that Marineland is a good standard, but I'm wondering if there is a brand you like better, for whatever reason.

IMO.. carbon is carbon-- its all made out of the same material... so why spend more money for brand name stuff when you can get it cheap in bulk

i dont use carbon but since you have to replace it so often bulk would be the best way to go.

Actually, it is not made of the same stuff. Different brands can be different.

I have lots of tanks and usually use any bulk I can find.

I've used Marineland Black Diamond for yrs. I was sold on the phosphate-free, part.

I have used the Marineland Diamond Blend for the idea that it might help keep nitrates down.

I have used Seachem Matrix Carbon. Good stuff, but costs more too.

Ive never used it much, so no reason for me to buy bulk. I always just bought the big jug of black diamond.
