I just picked up 2 26 watt CF bulbs that plug into mogul base. $27 each CDN. They are 6500k, so actinic supplement recommended.
The store also had smaller bulbs. i think it was around 12 watt that fit those little hagen incadescent hoods they said.
They also had larger ones that I think were around 45 watts.
Very economical way to start a marine tank.
I just put mine on my new semi reef and they are BRIGHT!
They look real bright because of the compactness.
Also there is a bit of shimmering from the water's surface the way metal halides do. Not as much, but just a bit. I'm sure it would be more profound if you hung it verticaly the way a metal halide pendant would be!!
If anyone wants some, they were at Menegeraies or however to spell that store on parliament. I always get it wrong.
