Wow what Fun fishes you have there! What type of substrate is that? It really goes well with what you have in there.
 
its just regular old fluorite. 60lbs of the stuff (i about died when my bf shelled out the $100 for it). but it grows plants like MAD

thanks. i had better congos; almost twice as deep in the chest area and bigger overall; longer fin extensions, brighter colors. but all four of the best looking males i had died thanks to my water company. those two are the wimps :( i need to add a few more and a few more rummies
 
are you comparing to what you see in stores? you gotta understand that when they are in stores they look very blah. and they tend to be young, so their tails arent so developed. these guys have been established in here with good food and clean water for over 6 months. they have relaxed and colored up and grown a lot. i got them around 2" in size. they were mostly silver with short fringe. now they are pushing 4" and are fat and i have no nippy fish. their tails have filled out. once settled, most congos color up wonderfully.
