This is to Ch47
But all are welcome to read
I am right dead in the flight path for things moving from bases down on the coast to bases in east Tenn. This time of year they move so often you'd think NC has gone to war with Tenn
You have not lived untill you are in bed half asleep at about 3 in the AM,when a flight of Ch47's ranging in size from two to a House shacking ten come over Low and Hot,low is right at tree top high and hot is some place around 150 / 200 mph.
The first time it happens you think ET has come for You.the next that will get you is when you are out in the yard middle of the day and they pop up from behind the tree line pass right over your head and you never hear them and just catch sight of it's tail as it fly's off.keep up the good work nice to be reminded that our young people are that well trained

I was briefly assigned to a Cavalry regiment. We ran a FAARP (Forward Area Refueling Re-arming Point). The first time I had to sling load a fuel blivet it nearly knocked me down from the rotor wash, Lol. It only took that one time to learn! They were CH-47B's.

I worked with MH-53s and UH-60s in the USAF along with AC-130H/AC-130U Gunships and MC-130E Combat Talons when I was stationed at Hurlburt Field in Fla.
Fun stuff.

No I don't believe there are any active bases here accept the chemical depot. He was in the army reserves for a while, spent 7 months driving a tank in afghanistan. He's looking into enlisting for full time now, so they gave us a list of bases for armored divisions.

I was stationed at both. I absolutely detested Hood when I was first there. I eventually bought a house in Harker Heights and it became my escape. Last I heard Nolanville was still giving tickets for 56 in a 55 and made the news about the worst US speed traps. It was number one. I never got one luckily. It was my last duty station before retiring and I almost stayed there.
Ft Carson was beautiful and I had a great job in the 4th ID. Used to do a lot of fishing up in the Cheyenne Mountains, got to see parts of NORAD and the Pikes Peak Hill Climb Race. Colorado Springs became to scary to live in so I moved out to Fountain.
I absolutely enjoyed Germany and extended my rotation once. I tried to stay longer but I was ordered stateside. Germany spoiled me. To this day I can't stand American beer!

Started out 11C (Mortars) but got a bum leg out of the deal and was sent to learn Computer Systems and became an instructor at the school. Due to MOS stagnation and shortages I was later sent to EOD school. I hated it but had no choice (55?). Eventually I was sent back to computer systems.
