pearl gourami color losing color, but only the head portion.
strange or normal or dying? (i'm not asking how to solve it)

Does it look similar to the fish in this (http://64.191.28.50/forums/showthread.php?threadid=1755) thread? I'm having the same problem with one of my fish right now, maybe if someone replies to that thread it can help you out too...?

hehe i read ur post before i started this one.
mine is just the head, from top to bottom. but body is normal.
i don't know if it's male or female, i forgot what the orange part looks like. hehe. will check.
