I just got done dog/catsitting, and as I walked out of that house I ran into a wall of stink.
This poor cat has bloody holes behind his ears from a fight, his back feet are swollen and he is limping. He smells like someone gathered up all of the cat pee they could find and let it ferment a year or so.
I'm not sure exactly what is in his fur, looks like motor oil.

I sat with him until an ACO could come out, when she did and attempted to put him in a carrier, he turned vicious and howled and tried biting and scratching. She let him go off, we know he'll come back, his only easy meals are at the house I am working in.

I know for a fact that this cat is the offspring of an irresponsible lady who allowed her 6 month old kitten to breed. And he has impregnated all of the females around here. Who knows what diseases he may have...
His suffering is so preventable it is sickening...
I will update if I am able to catch him (without being maimed, that is).

Don't mean to offend anyone, but after seeing my fair share of strays like this and worse, finding more than one leaking blood from everywhere and crying, because people allow their unaltered males or females to run.

You really should not be calling animal control on other ppls animals like that. Cats are considered free roaming, the city wont pick them up here unless they are attacking someone.

Animals are animals, and thats what they are going to be.

He is a complete stray.
his mother is now a stray, as her owners moved and dumped her outside. His sister was just run over by a car, and his other sister was with him this morning.

And yes, if I found someone's animal, in their yard, in front of their house, or a mile away that is sick, injured and in obvious pain, I will call.
Sadly, though, he has no owner.

I disagree. They may not pick up the cat, but I think they do get involved in cases of neglect and abuse -- which from the post seems to be the case.

This is so sad - I hate it when I hear of animals not being properly cared for - and not being spayed or neutered -- the easiest way to keep this from happening!

Yeah, the ACO lady tried or a while to get him without stressing him out, but with no luck, and she did not want to use the cat claw on him, as he's injured, but she is going to leave a live trap which I am going to go check this evening.

I'm glad that where you are they're willing to try and help. What about "owner" - is there one?

No... The only person I know of with some kind of tiny link to him had his mother. Who is now a loose stray as well. They owner moved to CA and left her.

You may just need to net him. I caught a stray that was fighting my giant old cat a couple of years ago with a 6 foot fishing net, got him neutered, and returned him to his idiot owner for some reason.

We thought about it, but we are not sure what is wrong with his legs and don't want to cause more injury.
He's also a pretty big boy, and with his current state I can imagine what kind of disgusting infection you could get from a bite or claw.

BUT he will allow you to pet him, so I can get close enough to coax him into a cage, since I do not want to catch his sisters with a live trap by accident, I do not approve of them being out and homeless, but they are fed and look healthy.
The vet receptionist I am housesitting for is going to trap his sisters and get them tested for felV and other diseases, if they are free of any, she is getting them sterilized and UTD on shots.
The ACO I spoke with said if he isn't carrying anything bad, he can be vetted, neutered and returned.
