I have an Aqueon Power 10 filter in a tank that's currently cycling. How should I go about changing my media? I see a lot of conflicting information. Should I replace the whole cartridge? Just rinse it? Do I replace it eventually? What are my cheapest options?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Caity

Rinse it out in old tank water or new treated water. Unless it's falling apart, you don't want to replace it. :)

Only rinse the mechanical filtration. Replace when/if it disintegrates.
If you have activated carbon, replace monthly.
Biological filtration can be shaken in old tank water if gunky, otherwise, it is best to leave alone.

Or remove the carbon unless removing meds or other chemicals. It is up to you but many aquarists see it as a waste of time and money.
