Has anyone tried using these on a planted aquarium?

They come in 50W, 65W, and 120W.

The K rating of all three is 2850K.

I *thought* the proper K range for planted aquaria was 4700K-6000K.

Here are the spec I found on the 120W:

I like the colour green.

Back to the lights, you are right that the kelvin rating for these bulbs seems a bit on the low side. I use 3500K screw in flourescents and they do a decent job, but I wouldn't think of going any lower than that. Plus the colour must be awful yellow in them.

My favorite color is also green:)

These are incandescent bulbs right? I can't tell for sure from the specs, but the wattages suggest they are. I have never personally tried one. But from what I have read, they shouldn't do much more than cause some algae growth in a tank. If you need something that screws in to a standard light socket, try screw in compact flourescents. Try one of the twist bulbs from this page:https://www.1000bulbs.com/category.php?category=11

Basically, then you just need to decide on what size, a good general rule for screwins is 2 watts of light per gallon of tank size.

I hope this helps.
