for those of you that dont know what photosynth is its where there are many 2d pictures that are all put together to make one big 3d picture. these are really cool and would be a great way to show off your tank. i dont know if its possible to do this or not but i would make a great way to do TOTM or POTM if at all possible.

Whilst Photosynth is a great move forward in photograph coheshion and technology, its not going to be something that we can employ via forum for a photo contest..At least not in the immediate future anyway....

I was a part of the beta testing team for Photosynth, and this kind of point was raised as a feedback point. The answer from Microsoft is that its design to be used on a larger scale than having the capabilities designed into it to be used on sites such as blogs or forums..As it moves forward, there is no saying this technology wont be made more readily available for our type of network here...The reasons for this is simply the ammount of photos needed to gain sythy...Common ammounts of photos needed are between 200 - 500 photographs...Some synthy images are even created with over 2 - 3 thousand images...

For those interested, Photosynth can be explored here..

Hmm, well... I've done animations from using hundreds of successive photographs. This just looks like another interesting application of successive photography and another great use of a large memory card... I so need to try this! ^_^

*Adding software to my computer right now :]

I have seen this before, from a video at some electronics expo, I think it's cool.

But my graphics card can barely handle it, everything runs slow.

Can you extract the photos from individual frames of video?

Excellent demo:

I'm not really seing any 3D effect it looks to me like a bunch old standard photos just put into a fancy browsing program over all not that impressed.

Seems to me to be an over blow panorama stiching program more than a true 3d program.

They have had this ability on CSI for like 4 seasons now where have you all been....:silly:
