It's cracked on the bottom, under one of the feet. Can I use surfboard epoxy or something, or do I have to buy a new housing?

i would get a new housing maybe if you call them they will send a replacement free of charge wont hurt to ask before you buy if it is a newer filter.

I used aquarium silicone to fix one of my cannisters.. catalina sent me a replacement housing but I still have the repaired one in use ;)
broken in the same place under a foot.

I don't think they'd send a new housing because we got it from someone that wasn't the original buyer. I think I'll try the silicone, thanks!
Do I put it on the inside, outside, or both?

I did both since mine was actually a hole(big enough to fit my thumb thru)

I did cut a piece of plastic out (left over from a trim piece of glass top) and use it to sandwich the hole.

id just silicone it back together... why spend more then ya have to? silicone only cost me 5.00 for a cheap no additive pack. came with alot to

Make the repair from the inside rather than the outside. That's where the pressure comes from.

i would sand it before epoxying....but that should work....i also really prefer fiberglassing for permanent things. that is just my own personal preference though.

regular polyester resin does not normally adhere well with plastic however epoxy resin stand a better chance of adhering. If you have a body shop close by you can use some product by 3M called 5887, it is a 2 part liquid ABS plastic repair product. This stuff is awesome and can be used in many applications.
