So I picked up two snails (or possibly just shells at this point..) from my favorite LFS. I have no idea if they're dead or just being snails. They're floating and the operculum is pulled waaaaaay back into the shell, but it looks to be shut tight and the snails don't smell like death.
They continue to float about in my tank and have been that way for a few days... should I get rid of them?
 
Do the smell test on them daily until they came out, or smelled funny. Mine did that and MsJinkzd said they do that from time to time.

**warning on the smell test, dont put it right at your nose and sniff, hold it back and gradually bring it closer.. :)
 
Yea I just poked the operculum...turns out it was just stuck and there's nothing left of the snails anymore.
Thread can be closed I guess :\
 
Thats sad, sorry to hear that. Whenever you buy snails, make sure to get the ones that are moving about in the tank..
