Hi Friends !

I just witnessed something very unusual and amazing and wanted to share / clarify if its common with the Brichardis.

In my Brichardi Species tank, atleast 3 pairs have spawned and are guarding the Eggs / Babies / Nest. One baby from a nest managed to swim out in to another pairs territory and immediately its father (the male) darted at it and took him in his mouth, to his cave and released it there. Immediately the mother came and checked the baby....

Is this common or something unusual ???

Kindly advice....
Regards
Kush

Sorry I really don't know. That still sounds so cool though! It must have been so amazing to watch! I love when fish get all protective :)

Hi there !

Thanks for the kind reply ! Yeah, its really so amazing that such a little creature defends its babies so fiercely and dedicatedly ! Though its instinct rather than intelligence (IMHO), its really something to learn for a few of us humans...

BTW, some great quotes you have there in your Avatar and Signature ! :)

Thanks again for caring and for the reply - Have a Wonderful day !
Regards and Care

Cool i am not surprised by this behavior and i sorta expect it as a past breeder of Bricahrdi, they have strong parental care hence the family harem colony fish style of life they live..

But yes its not uncommon for them to do this.. Great story Kush..

Great stuff - they have a brilliant reputation as parents - glad you are enjoying them kush.
