i had a few free days so i started to clean out my pond for the spring.
before winter, i noticed 5 frogs living in it. i kept the de-icer on and hoped the little guys would be alright. i guess they would have been alright, if the great ice storm of '08 didn't crush all the power lines in the entire state. 6 days of no electricity and no de-icer = 10 dead frogs.
so i emptied the smelly 800 gallons of water from the pond into the woods, and all 800 gallons soaked into the soil and then into the empty hole UNDER the pond liner. excellent. i figured it would absorb back into the soil as the days became longer and warmer and the sun kept doing its thing. it's going to rain for the rest of the weekend and half of the week.
would filling the pond with water help push the water back into the ground at all, or is it now just a waiting game?
